Follow-up project: Kompost-Bande

Kompost-Bande – School Compost as a Learning Laboratory for Sustainable Action, builds on a successfully tested pilot project in Bernese primary schools. The project focuses on scaling and institutionalising a practical school compost model that enables children to experience biological cycles, resource conservation and sustainable behaviour in their everyday school life. At the same time, organic waste is recycled, compost is produced, and local communities are strengthened.

The follow-up project aims to make the model accessible to additional schools through the development of a cost-efficient and easily transferable framework. Key activities include building partnerships with school and educational networks, expanding collaborations with public authorities and NGOs, further developing the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) programme, and increasing the project's visibility through targeted communication and outreach activities. By creating long-term support structures, the project seeks to ensure that the initiative can continue beyond the original project team and generate lasting impacts in the areas of sustainability education, circular economy and waste reduction.
