New Projects
The Students4Sustainability evaluation committee has selected three innovative interdisciplinary student projects for funding in the third call. The cross-university hub of the four universities in Bern thus supports committed students who are actively committed to sustainable development.
The funded projects in the spring semester 2025 are:
Student Minds Networks:
The aim of this project is to sustainably promote mental health at universities. The Student Minds Network wants to expand its sphere of influence and support the anchoring of measures to ensure the mental health of students at a local level. Bern, with its four Higher Education Institutions (University of Bern, BFH, PHBern and PH NMS), is serving as a pilot location for the new project phase. All university members should contribute to improving mental well-being according to their possibilities in order to sustainably promote and protect the health of all (SDG3).
You C Cards:
With the ‘You “C” Cards’, the association Ayumé - Music and Diversity is developing an innovative lesson structuring tool: a set of 80 cards that will initially be used in individual instrumental and vocal lessons to make the topics covered and tools used more comprehensible, offer more orientation and at the same time create an opportunity for more participation. The concept and cards are realised in collaboration with musicians, psychologists and an illustrator. The ‘You “C ”Cards’ can be used for all age groups and levels and are particularly useful for teaching neurodivergent people and people with disabilities.
School compost as a learning laboratory for sustainable action:
In cooperation with a teacher and her class in the Länggass neighbourhood of Bern, the project team is planning to set up a school compost to recycle organic waste. The project aims to create a learning laboratory at neighbourhood level to spread the word about urban composting. This will encourage changes in behaviour and reduce the amount of waste and CO2 emissions.
