2030 SDGs Game – A playful simulation of our shared future

What will a livable future look like in 2030? And what role will we play in it – as experts, researchers, designers, and decision-makers?

On September 11, 2025, the University of Bern and the Bern Botanical Garden invite you to a special experience:

The internationally renowned 2030 SDGs Game from Japan – an interactive workshop that uniquely combines systemic thinking, strategic action, intergenerational exchange, and personal reflection.

In a diverse group from science, administration, business, and civil society, you will experience firsthand how the decisions of individual actors shape a dynamic system – a system that also forms the basis of our lives. What does it take to create common, sustainable solutions for us and future generations?

The game reveals what often remains hidden in everyday life: Real change requires spaces that enable security, flow, and courage at the same time—spaces where we can question the assumptions of our own perspectives and share them with people from other worlds of experience. Where we meet on equal terms, an expanded space of possibility emerges. And that is often where stories of real transformation begin.

In the game, you take on a role with your own goals, invest time and money in projects, negotiate with other players, and experience how your decisions influence a constantly changing system.

This creates a resonance space for clarity, connectedness, and collective effectiveness. An evening that inspires—as an impulse, dialogue, and starting point for joint creation.

Are you ready to play?
