Since early 2024, we have been supporting students in their involvement in sustainable development as part of an interdisciplinary, cross-university team. We are a joint project of the University of Bern, Bern University of Applied Sciences, the Bern University of Teacher Education and the NMS Bern Institute of Teacher Education. By joining forces, we aim to connect the more than 30,000 students at Bern’s higher education institutions. We offer a platform for exchanging ideas, learning from one another and developing and implementing joint projects in the field of sustainable development. Students4Sustainability is the first and only cross-university hub for student engagement in the field of sustainable development in Switzerland. By jointly establishing this new, innovative collaboration, Bern’s higher education institutions are taking on a pioneering role. The hub also forms part of other cross-university activities in the field of sustainable development, such as the Bern Higher Education Institutions’ Sustainability Day or the ‘Core Group on Education for Sustainable Development’.

The policy and strategic direction of Students4Sustainability is coordinated with the inter-university board. The members of the board are:
